Liquid Gold

Join me in experiencing my adventures and excitement on my photo shoots, as I unwrap my journey involved in capturing images that linger, whilst reflecting spectacular scenery that soak the soul with peace and hope!

It was a good decision driving to Hastings Point, Northern New South Wales, Australia, on the morning of this photo shoot. It was my first-time capturing images from this incredible destination. The weather and light conditions were perfect. The wind was absent which was advantageous.

Reaching the beach involved walking down a steep bank which was slippery. As always, wearing waders, I took precaution as the rubber soles are potentially lethal in slippery conditions. It was almost dark as I headed to the shoreline to start my shoot, commencing from first light.

From the moment I secured my tripod in the sand I knew it was going to be an incredible shoot. I could tell by the cloud formations as first light became obvious.  Photo shoots such as this one, involve a lot of concentration. Not a negative comment, but its blissfully full-on, which I thrive on.

The tide was just starting to recede, but the waves were sizeable and powerful. I was almost mesmerised by the striking light across the shoreline. I adjusted the focal length of my lens and rotated my camera on my tripod to add interest to each image.

Depending on the nature of the ocean on the day, I also adjust my tripod legs. If the waves are big and unpredictable, I maintain them at a certain height that is adaptable to the conditions I’m shooting in.

The light was persistently good throughout the shoot. At times, good light can fade very quickly.

Throughout the shoot, I was excited as the light continued to release incredible energy which made for a memorable photo shoot. I walked away from the beach happy as I instinctively knew I had captured some special shots.
