The Spit, Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, is an idyllic location for photographers. Its iconic feature is the pier that runs out to sea. It is a favourite with photographers.
I arrived at this wonderful beach at first light. The sky was illuminated with wonderful hues of gold, whilst the clouds added a dramatic effect. It did not take me long to secure my tripod legs in the sand and commence shooting.
The ocean was perfect, and of course, so were the light conditions. The tide was receding, the waves were small. I’m always careful at this beach as a strong rip is always evident.
As the sunrise matured, the colours were literally out of this world. During each photo shoot, I always experiment with different techniques and lenses. Photographic filters always add interest. The light lasted a long time, I was overjoyed.
The Spit is a dog beach and it was wonderful to witness the dogs wade in the water whilst their owners were relaxing whilst walking on the beach. Dog owners are very friendly and it did not take long before I struck a conversation with a lovely couple whose dog was having fun in the ocean.
At the end of the photo shoot, I walked away happy as I knew I had captured some special shots.
