Home 5 Journal 5 Solitude!

As you can see by looking at the image, this picture was captured on a very cold winter morning.

I left home fairly early, with winter hours the advantage of being a Landscape Photographer is that I needed to only crack my sheets at a more respectable hour.

In a warmer climate when the sunrises are generally earlier, I’m always on the road very early.

Driving from Wanaka, (South Island, New Zealand) to Roaring Meg, which forms part of the Crown Range, was driven in the dark.

Crown Range is an incredible road particularly during the winter months. Spectacularly scenic but potentially dangerous due to icy weather conditions.

The walk from Roaring Meg to where I captured this image involved a steep climb, but the views are literally breathtaking.

Due to the freezing cold conditions, with a brisk wind, I wore layers of clothing effectively combatting the biting wind chill.

Once I’d decided my location, viewing the gorgeous scenery through my lens, I attached my photographic filter/s and enjoyed a special photoshoot.

My camera was very busy during this shoot.

I purposefully waited for the sun to soak the mountains with light and warmth, although it was only for a brief period.

This valley is located between Queenstown and Cromwell in South Island, New Zealand.

It is a great wine growing region due to the weather and soil conditions.

Poplar trees are renowned for their autumn colours in nearby Arrowtown where the valley becomes a kaleidoscope of colours during the autumn months.

Landscape photography is my passionate purpose.

Thank you for appreciating my work!
