The title of this image is fitting as everything was harmonious on the morning of this photo shoot.
When I arrived on the beach, I knew the light was going to be exceptional. As I wear waders, they always add excitement to my photo shoots. Concentration is paramount regarding observing the rhythm of the ocean, and at the same time, avoiding my equipment from being splashed.
Over time, I have learnt to observe the clouds at first light. That morning the clouds influenced my decision that it was going to be a great shoot. Excitement grew within. Sunrises such as this one are not a regular occurrence, if they were, I believe I could become ‘accustomed’ to those conditions.
Often, the light during my photo shoots is ordinary, but God helps me to create something special even when there isn’t a cloud on the horizon.
With regular photo shoots, during exceptional light, and being in the rhythm of nature, it is easier to navigate and decide my next move/composition, regarding light that is extraordinary on all sides!
It’s not that practice makes perfect, instead, it gives one a more accurate perspective on how to best use the light that is available. In circumstances that could be overwhelming if I wasn’t dedicated, it’s in those outstanding moments in which I grow my art as a fine art landscape photographer.
