Glenorchy, South Island, New Zealand, is the location of this photo shoot.
I lived in Wanaka, New Zealand. The drive from Wanaka to Glenorchy via Queenstown was one that involved fairly intense concentration.
The road conditions were good, but they are influenced by the weather.
During the winter months, particularly driving over the Crown Range, if snow or ice is present, it could be quite treacherous. I always drove with caution.
Queenstown to Glenorchy is particularly scenic and stunning with Lake Wakatipu, ‘wrapped’ around by majestic mountains.
At times, it is easy to become distracted by the inspirational beauty, but one knows to keep one’s eyes on the road.
My decision was to always leave home before sunrise, especially during the cold winter months, where it was dark and the driving conditions were unpredictable.
I always left early, offering me enough time to arrive for my shoot.
Even on fairly cloudy days, the mountains combined with the reflections in Lake Wakatipu, make an interesting photo.
My intentionality is to compose images from an interesting, organic angle.
To achieve the result of this image, I waded fairly deep into the lake and discovered an advantage that accurately reflected the moment I was there.
My camera and tripod accompany everywhere, along with my photographic filters and gear.
My vehicle is my office, my pantry and my wardrobe.
As you can see, arriving at my destination early has the obvious advantage of being peaceful.
The sunlight on the mountains adds warmth, doesn’t it?
Thank you for appreciating my work!
