Join me in experiencing my adventures and excitement on my photo shoots, as I unwrap my journey involved in capturing images that linger, whilst reflecting spectacular scenery that soak the soul with peace and hope!
This wonderful location, Hollywell, is close to where i live, so it is convenient from a traffic perspective. But, in saying that, any destination that is worth travelling for, even with congestion, traffic is not an issue.
On the morning of this photo shoot, the weather conditions were perfect. I always ensure the weather is ideal before I venture out. I have been caught out with predicted good weather, and it has rained. That does not present a problem as I always have my umbrella tucked away in the bib of my waders.
It was fairly recent when I discovered this superb spot. It is residential, with homes close to the water’s edge. Hollywell is also popular with fishermen and boats are prolific, particularly over the weekends.
As I settled into my shoot, reducing my tripod legs, to as safely as is possible, so my lens is just above the water to capture the moment I witness the light, that it is as ‘real’ for the viewers of my work, as it was for me. Each and every image is captured from my soul. I waited for first light and it did not take long before the thin red line appeared across the horizon. Light, and the promise of a new day always presents hope, doesn’t it?
On that morning it was quiet with regards to the boats cruising through the water. More often than not, depending on the speed of the boats, the waves created from them, are quite impressive. I always ensure my equipment is safe. As the light progressed and became more obvious, I altered my focal length of my lens regularly, as I always do. The quality of my lenses also helps with creating high definition images. But, of course, the photographer also needs the ability to accurately interpret what he or she is capturing, in the essence of composition.
It was at that moment that the light was golden that I could not resist being drawn into the intensity of the moment. What could be more perfect? ideal weather conditions with a sense of peace all around that soothes the soul. I packed away my equipment at the end of my photo shoot, with a spring in my step, as I walked to my vehicle, I knew I had captured some special shots.
