On the morning of this photo shoot, the weather was perfect. I was excited about my first visit to Natural Bridge, Springbrook National Park, Queensland, Australia. It was a pleasant walk through the Park. I arrived at the cave early in the morning, as I know it’s an iconic location and a favourite with photographers, which I now appreciate.
As I approached the cave, I could hear, and see the wonder of the waterfall whilst the light was spectacular. The National Park had experienced good rain as it was early summer and I grew more excited as I proceeded with caution into the cave. Understandably, it was an adjustment from the beautiful sunlight I’d experienced outside, before entering the dark corner of the cave.
The moment I walked into the darkened atmosphere, my excitement and expectancy of a good shoot rose up in me. The scene before me was beautiful beyond description. The image speaks for itself, with the absolute perfection of nature. Experiencing abundant rainfall, the waterfall was more impressive in size, whilst it soaked my senses with colours that were indescribable.
Listening to the thunderous sound of the water, crashing against the rocks was worth it, as the force of water added to the dynamics of an already dramatic scene. After awhile, I was almost mesmerised, and utterly fascinated by the sheer power of nature. It did not take long before, I was in sync with the rhythm and the heartbeat of creation, whilst it captured my soul in a significant way.
Packing away my equipment and departing from the cave after a considerable time of reflection and wonderment of what compelled and attracted my attention, it was not easy leaving, but I was content I’ ‘d captured something special.
