Join me in experiencing my adventures and excitement on my photo shoots, as I unwrap my journey involved in capturing images that linger, whilst reflecting spectacular scenery that soak the soul with peace and hope!
It had been some time since I had visited Wellington Point, Brisbane, Australia. It is one of my favourite locations to shoot from. Apart from it being versatile with a generous choice of where to capture sunrises and sunsets, it’s a favourite, particularly with fishermen.
The fishermen release their boats during the early morning, sometimes before sunrise, to head out to the ocean and either enjoy a fun time out relaxing, or, for serious, commercial fishermen, to secure a good haul of fish.
On the morning of this photo shoot, I was fortunate in being able to walk out as far as was safe to do so. I wear waders which gives me an added advantage of capturing this infamous jetty from different perspectives, compared with, if I was standing on the land.
This wonderful location is windy, which is why it involves picking a right day for all the conditions to line up, the tide needs to be low enabling me to wade out as close to the jetty as is possible, and the bonus is calm conditions, with clouds. Clouds always add interest. And on this morning, that is what happened, the conditions were perfect.
Photographic filters add interest to the clouds and to the water, so I used them to my full advantage. As the shoot was about to end, I knew the tide was starting to come in. From experience, I know how important it is to move to the shore quickly, which I did. I have ignored the incoming tide in the past and it has been close as to how I was going to climb the rocks to get to safe ground!
That morning, I walked away, at the end of my shoot, with a spring in my step as it was a memorable time using my camera and my equipment.
