Snapper Rocks, is one of my favourite locations on the Gold Coast, Australia.I left home early, and arrived at my destination with just enough time to settle myself on the concrete wall, to start my photo shoot. Sunrise is earlier now as we are heading towards summer in the Southern Hemisphere. Once I was comfortable on the wall, I composed my first shot and started shooting.
The light wasn’t spectacular initially, however as the sunrise advanced, there was increased interest. The light became more obvious, piercing from behind the impressive bank of dark grey clouds. A photographer, who was standing on the wall, and using his zoom lens, capturing an amazing display of whales in front of us. When I sit on the concrete wall, I’m always looking for light on the peripheral. It did not take me long to move to the end of the wall. The clouds were more scattered which added intrigue and interest.
Snapper Rocks is popular with surfers and photographers. The surfers were prolific that morning. The tide was coming in, whilst the waves were impressive in size. I had an enjoyable time capturing some special shots. I walked away with a spring in my step.
